Semester 2

Initiated as an integral component of their Architectural Design Studio, this meticulous documentation transcends the conventional boundaries of theoretical learning. The students engaged in a comprehensive exploration of Karenhalli, employing detailed drawings as their primary medium. This not only honed their skills in architectural representation but also fostered a nuanced understanding of the built environment, its socio-cultural dynamics, and its intrinsic connection to the local context. This analytical phase laid the groundwork for the subsequent detailed drawings, which became a visual narrative capturing the essence of the village.

The students' drawings spanned a spectrum of architectural representations, including site plans, elevations, sections, and axonometrics. This exercise was an intentional effort to encapsulate not just the physical dimensions but also the cultural and contextual significance embedded in Karenhalli's built forms. Through their drawings, the students dissected the interplay of culture and Architecture, that evolved organically within the village. Beyond the technical proficiency gained, the documentation process enabled students to confront real-world challenges inherent in architectural practice. Negotiating with local communities, respecting ethical considerations in documentation, and synthesizing their findings into a cohesive narrative were integral aspects of this academic exercise.

In conclusion, the architectural documentation of Karenhalli by RV College of Architecture students exemplifies a holistic educational approach. It fosters an appreciation for the nuanced layers of a locale, cultivating future architects who not only possess technical skills but also a deep understanding of how context, culture, and physicality intertwine to shape the built environment.
